Dale N. Tasharski

Dale Tasharski began his current assignment as Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi in July 2006. In this role, he is responsible for the management of more than 60 personnel across seven cities, whose job it is to help U.S. companies do business in India.
A career Senior Foreign Service Officer with the rank of Counselor, Mr. Tasharski joined the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service in 1985. Prior to his current assignment in New Delhi, Dale spent four years promoting American business as Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland. From 1999 to 2002, he served as Senior Advisor for Career Development to the Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for the management, direction, and integrity of the overseas career development and assignment process for the Commercial Service.
From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Tasharski was a Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, where his chief responsibilities included U.S. trade promotion and bilateral trade policy negotiations in automotive, aerospace, and WTO government procurement. From 1990 to 1994, Dale was a Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw. While there, his office received the Commerce Department's Silver Medal award for their accomplishments in expanding U.S. trade and investment during an historic time of political and economic change in Poland. Prior to Warsaw, Dale served as an International Trade Specialist in the Commerce Department's U.S. Export Assistance Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he organized the first-ever U.S. District Export Council trade mission to what was then the Soviet Union.
Dale Tasharski was born and raised near Chicago, Illinois. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Highest Honors in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was recognized for advanced work in Russian and East European security studies. Through the years, he has studied Japanese, Russian, Polish, French, and Hindi.
Married with two teen-aged children, Dale enjoys music, golf, and fly fishing, and he is currently commissioner of New Delhi Little League, comprised of more than 270 players aged 5-15, from 18 different countries.
